Our Blog

Hello there – welcome to our NEW blog!!

Our blog is here to pass on hot tips and news about the bridal world.

Our first blogs will be about saving money – with the credit crunch on – we’re all watching the pennies, and with the wedding industry being what it is(!) – all money savvy brides need to know how to save some cash!

Our first money saving tip is close to home…

Tip 1 – Why shell out on tiaras for a large bridal party? Hire your tiara from a company (such as Betty Bridal! www.bettybridal.co.uk) and save punds!! If you change your mind and come over a little nostalgic (we’re all entitled to get a little sentimental, afterall we are only getting married the once hopefully!) and decide you want to keep the tiara, then of course the hire price comes out of the purchase price. Or we can dismantle the tiara and use elements of it into a brooch for you to keep and wear.

Most of our accessories can also be hired – just give us a call 01582 757579 or email us for more info. Orders@Bettybridal.co.uk

Choosing the right mix of music for your wedding

Choosing the right mix of music for your wedding, by Paul Doffman, who works for a company called freak music providing bands for weddings in Scotland.

A wedding day is one of the most special days in your life. With all the planning and preparation that goes into throwing this party of all parties, you want to make sure that everyone has a great time. As with any party, the music played at a wedding is vital to making it as memorable to the guests as it is to you. Picking the right music for your wedding is essential.

When choosing your wedding music, it’s important to keep a few things in mind. Most likely your guests will be of all ages, and so the music should reflect the different tastes that will reflect a variety of time periods. The list of songs to be played should vary in tempo, giving dancers of all styles a chance for a turn on the dance floor. Keep in mind that certain songs that may be special to you may be obscure to your guests, so keep those to a minimum. You want to include music that everyone will know. Here are some suggestions:

Romantic songs are perfect for a wedding. Traditional artists like Frank Sinatra, Patsy Cline, and Tony Bennett will be sure to bring couples of all ages on to the floor. Newer artists like Celine Dion, Michael Buble, Mariah Carey and a myriad of others will add the younger set to the crowd.

Of course, no wedding party music would be memorable without some rip roaring fun on the dance floor. There are a great many selections, both classic and modern, that’ll get your guests jumping in and having a great time. Party music standards, from Aretha Franklin’s “Respect” to the B-52’s “Love Shack” will have the whole party singing and dancing all evening long.

Finding the right mix of romantic and party tunes is an indispensable part of planning your wedding. Keep your guests in mind when picking the music for your wedding and it’ll be sure to be a hit!

Laura Ashley – Butterfly themed wedding heaven

I nipped in to Laura Ashley today as they had a sale on. I nearly swooned at the beautiful gifts and accessories they had – all beautiful, silky and shiny – and almost all of them with gorgeous butterflies on – if your wedding theme is Butterflies – get down there quick – they have a 50% sale on! I practically floated around the store – stroking things. Luckily for me (not so for Ms Ashley) I had left my purse in the car with the hubby – so no beautiful things to further clutter up our home!

Beautiful Bride goodies!!

Debenhams are now doing very pretty ‘Bride to be’ knickers on the fairly cheap! I’m not a bride to be any longer, having had my time(!) but I almost bought them myself! Not sure what my husband of nearly two years would say to that..!

Tip 2

Feeling the pinch? We came across a fantastic bridalwear company called Savvy Cinderella – www.SavvyCinderella.co.uk who offer a hire service to keep the costs low, and also sell beautiful prom dresses, shoes, veils etc.

After the wedding – sell off your unwanted dresses and accessories to Savvy Cinderella and recoup some of your initial outlay! They buy wedding dresses, tiaras, veils etc after the big day.  They are based in March, Cambridgeshire, and Sue the owner is just lovely!
